Weekly Update November 11, 2019

No School November 11th in honor of Veteran’s Day

Are you chilly? Buy your VBL sweatshirt or other winter gear at school this week.

VBL Food Drive is now accepting all food and gift card donations. Thank you in advance. We will be collecting holiday food items for St. Rita’s church in Vail. Please bring in non-perishable items. Grade competitions will be happening!

7th Grade Science of Magic Show – all 7th grade students will be attending Science of Magic on November 12th. Permission slips will be sent home on November 5th.

Attendance

As the second quarter continues, please keep in mind that attendance each day is a large part of your student’s success. All students should do their best to be present each Monday through Friday.

Electives

This Friday is an elective Friday. All students should bring all necessary materials, including water and dress appropriately for their elective choice.

Field Trip

Whispers Ranch Sanctuary will be our next field trip on November 22nd! Permission Slips will be handed out next week. The cost will be $5.00.

The Sanctuary offers children a special program called Forever HERO (Humane Education for Retirement Options), a program that aims to teach children that animals are not disposable objects but rather amazing beings who have many special abilities even if they can no longer be ridden.  Children and guests visiting the Sanctuary can meet the animals, hear their stories, and learn about good stewardship.

Students must be in good citizenship standing, have their Edgenuity completed and all grades at 70% by November 15th in order to be eligible to attend.

5th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Lunch will be on Tuesday, November 26th from 12:00-2:00. Our students will be having a Thanksgiving dinner together, enjoying a dessert baking contest and participating in a turkey trot this year! We are asking that each student bring a favorite Thanksgiving dish or beverage. All parents are welcome to join us as well! Sign up here.

If your student will be participating in the dessert baking contest, they will need to bring their entry in on November 26th before noon. All desserts for the contest must be home made and not need refrigeration. There will be a winner for each: cake, pie, cookie, dessert. We are looking forward to tasting all of the creations!
